Welcome to The Rhum Runner. Located in an ideal, quiet but walkable spot - a block away from the Garden District, sandwiched between St. Charles and Magazine. We are right by the best restaurants and shops, but just a 5 minute walk to the streetcar that takes you straight into the French Quarter. This historic home is designed to be a vacation unlike any other vacation - filled with character and antiques, guests have frequently said it’s like traveling back in time (but with modern amenities).
The toughest choice you’ll have to make on your trip is where to rest your weary head at night - do you sleep in the fathoms below in our light and airy Queen- sized canopy room with a balcony fit for sunset cocktails? Or choose the spacious, yet dark and moody mural room, with a grand king sized four post bed? Or better yet, grab a bite. I personally believe we are in the best spot for walkable dining, sandwiched between Magazine and St. Charles in the heart of the best shops and dining. Many of our guests at previous airbnbs have chosen to order epic take out and enjoy at home, where more choices await you - dine inside in our elegant Stede Bonnet inspired dining room, or al fresco under the gazebo as the banana trees sway in the breeze. This is a quirky home that has been decorated as an experience, not just a relaxing getaway. Most of our ambiance lighting is operated by remote or timer for a warm, cozy vibe, but for those who need the light of a thousand suns we also do have bright overhead lighting, also known as the bane of my existence.
If you need early check in, I can sometimes accommodate if we do not have anyone staying the night before, but I would not know this until that morning. You are more than welcome to drop your bags off, however, when you get in. We can’t do late check out, but again, you are welcome to leave your bags if you are leaving later in the day.
Our first trip here was many years ago, but the places we stayed at wove together a story that broke our heart to stop writing. So we decided to move here to write more chapters (both literally and figuratively, as I’m currently writing a book along with running the airbnb, so feel quite welcome to say hello if you see me in the yard trying to find another word for “repugnant”).
We want the same New Orleans experience for you. A place where your morning coffee can be as enchanting an experience as strolling through City Park at sunset. Relax and enjoy, and feel perfectly welcome to fall in love with the city as we did- it’s hard not to do.
