Positive: ~Location - just on the edge of the Medina. Within a few minutes’ walk you’re already on a bustling street full of local sellers, souvenirs, ceramics, clothes, and (very tasty) street food. ~Riad décor - a beautiful mix of modern style and oriental charm, with a lovely gallery of art on the walls surrounding the inner patio and incredibly atmospheric rooftop terraces. ~Staff - absolutely wonderful, kind and helpful people, a big plus for this place. ~Towels were changed daily.

Negative: ~Room size - very small. Two people can hardly pass each other on the way to the bathroom. The bed is large with a very firm mattress (I didn’t mind it, but my husband suffered!). The wardrobe is only about 40 cm wide, with 5 wire hangers made from bent metal rods. On the 5th day, we had some unexpected guests — a few lines of ants marching on the walls. ~Complete lack of privacy due to extremely poor soundproofing. You can hear everything from the neighbouring rooms -conversations (even whispers) and bathroom noises. ~Doors are locked with a padlock and large metal latch. It’s impossible to open or close them quietly, so everyone in the riad can hear when someone enters or leaves their room. ~Bathroom - very small, wet-room style. The water is heated by rooftop solar powered tanks, so if you want to shower later in the evening forget about hot water (we were unlucky twice). It often smells of sewage — sometimes more, sometimes less. Toilet paper wasn’t restocked (we received 3.5 rolls for two people for the entire week). ~Rooftop terrace closes at 10 pm. ~Breakfasts... There were few positive reviews about them that I don’t quite understand. We had 7 breakfasts in total, and every day it was almost exactly the same: 2 hard-boiled eggs, about 6 small triangles of local flatbread, sometimes one (!) bread roll cut in half or two mini Moroccan pancakes, one teaspoon each of jam/butter/cream cheese (for two people!), a tiny bowl of local porridge and/or natural yogurt, and a separate small plate with about two tablespoons of chopped tomatoes or beans (again, for two people!). Plus a glass of juice, mint tea, and a mini coffee (which honestly tasted terrible). In a regular local restaurant, this would be considered more of a starter than a meal.

Summary: Good for a short trip (1-2 nights), for a longer stay it is worth considering staying somewhere else
